Match Report : The final week of the WDCU season saw Renfrews 2nd eleven put up arguably their finest performance of the 2008 campaign as they beat Cavaliers by 6 wickets at Clydesdales Titwood Ground.

Having lost the toss and Been put in to the field, some fine spells of tight bowling and equally impressive fielding helped Renfrew restrict the hosts to a total of 126 with Waseem Ahmed the pick of the bowlers claiming 5-30 from his 10 overs. Kamran Saeed (2),Graeme Phillips (1),Muneeb Gill (1), and Shani (1) all chipped in to claim the remaining wickets, with Graeme Phillips taking his overall tally to 21 scalps and becoming Renfrew 2nd XI leading wicket taker for the second consecutive season.

Renfrews reply got off to the worst start possible with K Saeed falling to the second ball of the innings and captain Parvez Majeed following shortly after. However 1st eleven batsmen Balawal Fahim remained composed and weathered off the storm with an exciting display of steady batting to finish unbeaten on 62, with good supoort coming from F.Hussain, U.Aslam. Despite the loss of four wickets, Fahims match winning innings ensured that he and Taral Khasiya (16*) saw Renfrew Home with more than 15 overs remaining.

Renfrew entertained Edinburgh at home on Sat 02.08.08 in an SNCL div 2 match. Edinburgh being the bottom side in the division and also having been convincingly beaten at home Renfrew earlier in the season.
The match had a delayed start due to the excessive rain of the last week , with a 4pm start with the match reduced to 30 overs a side.
Renfrew skipper Sajid Majeed after the winning the toss put Edinburgh in to bat on a what looked to be a difficult wicket.

The Renfrew bowlers vindicated their skippers decision by skittling Edinburgh out for 93 in 26 overs with skipper Majeed continuing his fine form with the ball of late picking up 3 wickets for 10 runs in 6 overs with Sikander Raza, Arfan Shah and Ahmad Said all picking up two wickets each also, and they were well supported by the renfrew fielders who held onto their catches.

Renfrews reply was almost in fast forward with Raza after being dropped first ball completed his half century in 13 balls and was finally out on 82 of 24 balls with 1 run required to win,the final total of 97 being attained in just 11.1 overs with Renfrew convincing winners by 8 wickets.Another whirlwind batting performance by Raza complemented by his two wickets and two catches.
After the other results in the division Renfrew maintain their 5th position but are edging closer to Dumfries in 4th position with the gap closing, now standing at 4 points with a game with Dumfries still to play.
